BBC Children in Need 2016: Fantastic Beasts Special Sketch

This year’s Appeal Show of BBC Children in Need was aired on Friday 18 November, 7.30pm on
BBC One. The show had a special sketch featuring Eddie Redmayne. The sketch was recorded
on the set of Eddie’s new film, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Eddie was doing his
bit to raise money for Children in Need. It featured other special cameos of various stars from the
world of howbiz. Eddie said: “I have such fond memories of Children in Need - growing up, I loved
watching all the special sketches and performances, and of course, Sir Terry Wogan’s inimitable
presenting. It is a charity very close to my heart so you can only imagine how chuffed I was to be
asked to do a special sketch for this year. I can’t wait for you all to see what we have in store.” (x)
As Eddie takes his place of the new lead of possibly the biggest franchise in the world, his life
is changing. One way is that Redmayne is suddenly role model to millions of kids who love the
wizarding world. So, the Fantastic Beasts actor has decided to do his part on behalf of those kids. (x)

Eddie Redmayne searches for Fantastic Beast Pudsey in the celebrity strewn Children In Need sketch.
Mel and Sue, Merry Berry, Lord Sugar, Simon Cowell, Peter Capaldi, Britney Spears, Jamie Dornan,
Craig David, Len Goodmand and Bruno Tonioli were among the stars who popped up in the video.
Eddie navigated his way via inept switchboard operators Mel and Sue through a ten-minute phone call
that hooked him up with numerous celebrities including Lord Sugar – who fired him – Simon Cowell, who
gave him "a big fat no", Peter Capaldi's Doctor – who failed to identify the beast in question – a baffled
Britney Spears, a disturbing Jamie Dornan and Mary Berry, who attempted to smother Eddie with cake.
The skit was part of the annual BBC charity extravaganza, which this year raised a record
£46.6 million to help disadvantaged children in the UK. (x)
