The Danish Girl premiered on HBO this weekend

Premiere Friday, August 26th at 9/8c
The Danish Girl on HBO

INT. ROYAL ACADEMY OF ARTS, GREAT HALL, NIGHT A spectacular event. An orchestra plays and people dance. Ulla’s party drink and laugh. Gerda and Lili hang back a little, observing. There’s a circle of men in tuxedos nearby. One glances across at Lili. Lili looks away, blushing. EINAR/LILI: People are looking.
GERDA: Well you’re a pretty girl, you’ll have to get used to that. (But she sees Lili’s really uncomfortable)
GERDA (CONT’D) (cont’d) It’s fine. You’re just feeling self-conscious…

The heartbreaking scene, deleted from The Theory of Everything

The most heartbreaking scene in my opinion, which is one of Eddie Redmayne's favorites isn't in the final version of the movie. James Marsh chose to delete it, because he didn't want the film to be too sad. Fortunately it can be found on the DVD and Blu-ray. This is where Stephen walks on the river bank after his diagnosis. Eddie's acting is breathtaking.

I participate in the #30DaysOfEddieRedmayne challenge launched by Eddie Redmayne Spain on Twitter. This scene was one of my choices, when I was thinking about which is the most heartbreaking scene of Eddie. There are so many. Finally I chose a scene from Black Death and posted some gifs from it on tumblr here.

Precious moments from Oscars 2015 - throwback

"Thank you – I don’t I’m capable of articulating quite how I feel right now but please know this – I am fully aware of that I am lucky, lucky man, – This Oscar – wow! –this Oscar, this belongs to all of those people around the world, battling ALS, – It belongs to one exceptional family: Stephen, Jane, Jonathan and the Hawking children. – I will be its custodian. I promise you I will be its custodian and I will promise you I will look after him. I will polish him. I will answer his beck and call. I will wait on him hand and foot. – But I would not be here were it not for an extraordinary troupe of people. My staggering partner in crime, Felicity Jones. My ferocious and yet incredibly kind director, James Marsh. Working Title, Focus, Lisa and Anthony, Nina and my ingenious team of Dallas, Josh, Gene, Jason, Elan, Carl, Britney and Carrie and Pip. – Now, finally, please, this is so extraordinary. I just want to thank my family and you, Hannah, my wife. I love you so much. We have a new fellow coming to share our apartment. Thank you.!!"(x)

Lichfield Cathedral - Before Action installation highlights

Luxmuralis highlights from Before Action installation at Lichfield Cathedral
with poetry readings from Eddie Redmayne.

Eddie Redmayne has lent his support to an exhibition at Lichfield Cathedral to commemorate the
Battle of the Somme. Visitors could see him reciting four war poems. Part of the exhibition also
involved light projections on the walls and floor of the Cathedral. - BBC News video here

“By all the days that I have lived
Make me a solider, Lord.”

By all the glories of the day,
And the cool evening's benison,
By that last sunset touch that lay,
Upon the hills when day was done,
By beauty lavishly outpoured,
And blessings carelessly received,
By all the days that I have lived,
Make me a soldier, Lord.

By all of man's hopes and fears,
And all the wonders poets sing,
The laughter of unclouded years,
And every sad and lovely thing;
By the romantic ages stored
With high endeavour that was his,
By all his mad catastrophes
Make me a man, O Lord.

I, that on my unfamiliar hill
Saw with uncomprehending eyes
A hundred of thy sunsets spill
Their fresh and sanguine sacrifice,
Ere the sun swings his noonday sword
Must say good-bye to all of this;-
By all delights that I shall miss,
Help me to die, O Lord.

“And soon the slow, stray blood came creeping
From the intruding lead, like ants on track.”

“Who knows? Who hopes? Who troubles? Let it pass!
He sleeps. He sleeps less tremulous, less cold,
Than we who wake, and waking say Alas!”

Under his helmet, up against his pack,
After so many days of work and waking,
Sleep took him by the brow and laid him back.

There, in the happy no-time of his sleeping,
Death took him by the heart. There heaved a quaking
Of the aborted life within him leaping,
Then chest and sleepy arms once more fell slack.

And soon the slow, stray blood came creeping
From the intruding lead, like ants on track.
Whether his deeper sleep lie shaded by the shaking
Of great wings, and the thoughts that hung the stars,
High-pillowed on calm pillows of God's making,
Above these clouds, these rains, these sleets of lead,
And these winds' scimitars,
-Or whether yet his thin and sodden head
Confuses more and more with the low mould,
His hair being one with the grey grass
Of finished fields, and wire-scrags rusty-old,
Who knows? Who hopes? Who troubles? Let it pass!
He sleeps. He sleeps less tremulous, less cold,
Than we who wake, and waking say Alas!
