He said: “It’s such an extraordinary ride. Last year was like being hit by a bulldozer and it’s such a frenzy of emotions that you try to remain open enough to enjoy it and remember it.” Redmayne will attend the Oscar ceremony with his wife Hannah Bagshawe, who is pregnant with their first child, and he said the pair would try to take it easy beforehand. “You think of it as an evening event but it takes such a long time, I will have a calm day,” he said. “I promise Hannah whenever we come to LA that the sun will be shining, but it rained last year. We will have a gentle day and relax and enjoy it. Last year I was such a frenzy of nerves .” Asked if he would have a glass of champagne, he replied: “Several.” Redmayne also addressed the controversy over the lack of diversity in the Oscar nominations when asked if it was something the chosen actors had discussed. He said: “We haven’t all met together until this occasion but it’s on everyone minds and the way it has been handled seems to be a positive step.” (x) via

Everyone goes, 'It's happening. The change is happening.' But what's staggering to me is how long it's taken and how much of a distance there is to go." (x)
